About the site

I'm no one special: mine was just one of the countless lives touched by Judy Frankel and her music and made better for that. I put up these few pages to honour her memory. If you knew her, and feel that there is anything here of which she would not have approved, please, please, tell me, and I shall remove it.

Thanks to Andrys Basten for her kind comments and encouragement.

A word about copyright

As a performer and composer, Judy Frankel would have been particularly concerned about copyright violations. I have done my utmost to ensure there is none on this site:

Except where otherwise indicated, images of Judy were scanned from CDs I own.

The linen background was made by me in Paint Shop Pro™

The picture of the Sinagoga de Toledo used on Sephardic & Ladino Links is ©me, Tricia, 2010. Please contact me for more information. It is not to be used without permission.

The beautiful flower picture on A Bouquet of Judaism was bought by me from iStockPhoto and is ©PetrePlesea. It must not be reproduced in any way. I converted it to a transparent .gif file; any flaws in the transparency are mine. You can see, and purchase for your own use (subject to the licence agreement), the original .jpg image at iStockPhoto.

The picture of Judy used on Trees Cry for Rain is a screen capture from the film embedded in the page.

The picture used on ¡Fiestaremos! is of the programme for the Georgetown University screening of the film in 2009.

The acoustic guitar picture on Coda was bought by me from iStockPhoto and is ©pixhook. It must not be reproduced in any way. I converted it to a transparent .gif file; any flaws in the transparency are mine. You can see, and purchase for your own use (subject to the licence agreement), the original .jpg image at iStockPhoto.

The extracts from An Explosion of Jewish Women's Popular Music by Rahel Musleah appeared in the Winter 1995-96 issue of Lilith Magazine. They are used on this site, on the Sephardi Wannabe page, by kind permission of the Assistant Editor of Lilith, and must not be reproduced elsewhere. The picture of Judy was that used in the original article.

Browsers, fonts, and HTML

I created this site on a Mac and have viewed it in Safari, the now-discontinued Internet Explorer for Mac; various Mozilla browsers, and Opera. I have also viewed it in IE on a PC. Apart from minor variations in colour and font rendering, there is no difference in the way the pages are displayed. However, my preferred font for the headings, Lucida Handwriting, does not appear to be included in Leopard (Mac OS 10.5.3), or Snow Leopard (Mac OS 10.6.1), (however Lion (Mac OS 10.7) does include it), so I have also specified Apple Chancery. If you have neither font installed, the headings will be shown in Comic Sans MS.

My HTML is quite basic, and I believe some of the tags I use are now deprecated. It looks all right to me, but if something looks odd in your browser, please tell me, and I shall endeavour to rectify it.
